District level declamation competition held at GDC Kathua

KATHUA, Sept 26: Government Degree College Kathua organized District level Declamation Competition in its Smart Classroom on the theme ‘Truth and Non-violence’ under the aegis of “Gandhi Jayanti celebration.”

 The chief guest for the occasion was College Principal Prof. Seema Mir. The event commenced with the lightening of traditional lamp along with Saraswati Vandana. The convener of the Literary/Debate/Symposium Committee Prof. Shivani Kotwal welcomed the chief guest with a floral bouquet.

The Convener of the committee expressed her gratitude to the Principal for accepting the invitation. She also applauded the efforts made by the Principal towards the welfare of the College and students.

Prof. Seema Mir in her speech stressed on the fact that truth and non-violence are the two sides of the same coin. She also highlighted that the main focus of these ideals is to bring a change in the heart of the wrong-doer but not to embarrass the person. She encouraged the students to follow the Gandhian thought process of ‘Satya and Ahimsa’ and to make their future bright. She also congratulated the Literary Activities/Debate/Symposium committee for organizing such a splendid event.

      A total number of seven students participated in the competition from various Degree Colleges of District Kathua.

 The jury members for the competition were Prof. Rakesh Jasrotia, HOD Chemistry, GDC, Kathua, Prof. Rituraj Sharma, HOD Dogri, GCW, Kathua and Prof. Romika Bassin, HOD History, GCW, Kathua.

 The First prize in the competition was bagged by Farhat Naz from GCW, Kathua, second prize was given to Vishal Gupta from GDC, Kathua and third prize went to Ridika from GLDM College, Hiranagar.

The event culminated with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shubh Kumar, HOD Sanskrit, while the event was anchored by Prof. Madhvi Manohar.
