KATHUA, Apr 14: The SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Cell of the District Election Centre, Kathua, orchestrated a vibrant electoral awareness drive through a special Nukkad Natak performance at Phinter, Billawar.

The event, featuring artists from the renowned Natrang group of Jammu, aimed to ignite the spirit of voting and encourage the active participation of all eligible citizens as responsible members of society.

Against the backdrop of the bustling Phinter Chowk in Billawar, the Natrang group captivated the attention of passersby with their engaging performances. Through dramatic portrayals, they shed light on societal biases and the irresponsible behavior of some individuals who abstain from exercising their voting rights.

Central to their performance was the portrayal of the crucial role played by women in the electoral process, emphasizing the significance of their participation in shaping India’s democratic landscape. The Natrang group aptly depicted voting as a mammoth democratic festival, underscoring its importance as a cornerstone of Indian democracy.

In a poignant appeal echoing the sentiments of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the group urged citizens not to miss the opportunity to elect deserving representatives by casting their votes. They emphasized the need to prioritize the selection of candidates based on merit rather than religious or political affiliations.

The SVEEP Cell’s initiative, in collaboration with Natrang group, exemplifies the collective effort to foster a culture of electoral awareness and civic responsibility among citizens. By leveraging the power of art and storytelling, the drive aims to empower individuals to make informed choices and actively participate in the democratic process.

The spree of events are part of District Election Office plan to sensitize voters for which District Election Officer Kathua  Dr Rakesh Minhas has stressed to hold events and activities in every corner of the district to aware voters about the precious duty they owe in upcoming elections.

While throwing light on the initiatives carried out by District SVEEP cell, Nodal Officer Neeraj Bhargav said the activities under SVEEP to be further intensified in coming days with the intent to achieve best turnout futures in the district.
