Wrestler Sikander Sheikh of Maharashtra lifts 101st Int’l Bhatyari-Korga Kesari Dangal title

KATRA, June 29:  Wrestler Sikander Sheikh of Maharastra defeated wrestler Monu Dahia of Delhi and lifted 101st International Bhatyari-Korga Kesari Dangal title 2023, here today.

The winner (Sikander Sheikh) was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 131000 along with traditional “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” by President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, while runner-up (Monu Dahia awarded with Rs. 80000.

The dangal was organized by Rural Development Forum in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Ashok Sawhney (President), Sat Paul Verma, Ram Paul Sharma, Lochan Singh, Om Parkash Verma, Contractor Bablu, Som Dutt Sharma and Sahil Sharma.

 A total of 70 renowned wrestlers of India participated in the one day long Dangal.

 Senior Vice-President Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and President Kreeda Bhartia Jammu and Kashmir, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.

During the event, a total of 35 wrestling bouts were played and an amount of Rs 750000 was distributed among the winner and runner-up wrestlers by the chief guest of the event.

Kisan Morcha BJP J&K UT Prabari and senior leader Nand Kishore Sharma, BDC Chairman Rehmat Ali, BMO Dansal Dr. Manjoor Ahmed and Ex. President Yuva Rajput Sabha, Rajana Singh (Happy) were guests of honour.

        Prominent persons who were present on the occasion included Ram Paul Sharma, prominent social Activist and wrestling promoter, Sahil Sharma, Lochan Singh, Om Parkash Verma, Rumal Singh (Sarpanch), Balbir (Sarpanch), Anil Sharma (Sarpanch), Rajesh Sharma (Sarpanch) and Sub Inspector Sanjeev Sharma.

The 2nd main bout was won by wrestler Hamid of Iran by defeating wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police and both were awarded with Rs 61,00 and Rs. 40000, respectively, while 3rd bout was won by Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) by trouncing Shoota Khali of Chikka (Haryana) and were with Rs 40000 and Rs. 30000, respectively.

The 4th bout was secured by Nishar of Doda by defeating Taj of Punjab and were awarded with prizes of Rs  30000 and Rs. 20,000, respectively.
